Dafydd Rhys and F.A.M.E Team's London Showcase
"The end of October saw the F.A.M.E Team return to the the stage at the Rising Stars event hosted by The Fellowship For British Hairdressing. Designed to celebrate the industry’s future talent, the evening was a feast of techniques, both creative and commercial from an array of teams including Project X, Generation NOW and the Colour Project. I was there with the F.A.M.E Team (currently nicknamed by President Errol Douglas as ‘the jewel in the Fellowship’s crown’) and this would be our last show as a team before the next four enter the F.A.M.E Team academy.
Myself, Ellenora, Leighanne and Simon have all had an incredible year, the most amazing inspiration and experiences whilst learning not only new skills and techniques but also about ourselves and the industry that we love. For the Fellowship to give us time on stage at this event was not only a privilege but also an opportunity to show the industry how we have grown as a team.
The looks we were showcasing were a progression of a theme that we first worked on at Salon International back at the beginning of October. ‘Lucid Entity’ concentrates on dreams versus nightmares, with creams, blacks, clashing textures of hard lines and floaty movements.
For my look, I set a wig with a stiff material to give a distressed finish and an almost hacked outline. The dark colour of the wig was spray painted using a stenciling technique to create an intricate pattern of soft powdery whites, lilacs and pinks to create a dreamlike look. Whilst on stage I worked on enhancing the ponytail using the same technique.
It was great to be on stage again with the F.A.M.E Team and having such a warm welcome from the audience made it all the better. I’d personally like to thank the Fellowship for once again giving us the opportunity to showcase our work and also to Wella Professionals for allowing us to use their beautiful space".
